Vijayawada World Veterinary Day celebrated

VIJAYAWADA: The World Veterinary Day was celebrated in a grand manner in the city on Saturday. Felicitations to senior veterinarians, and people who excelled in the fields related to veterinary sciences marked the celebrations. కృష్ణa District collector S.A.M. Rizvi said that the Krishna district was far ahead of other districts with regard to animal population, more particularly cross bred milch cattle. The cross bred milch cattle population was 80 per cent compared to the 20 per cent of the country breed bovines. It was a result of sustained efforts of veterinarians in the district. Rural economy Without letting any scope for complacency, the veterinarians should continue their endeavours in this direction as rural economy was dependent on animal population also, he said. The human-animal relationship was older than agriculture on this globe. The dependence of human on animals was more compared to plants. And, it signifies the importance of veterinarians, he felt.
